Statement of Intent – systems@work 6.1

We’re making good progress with Version 6.1 and expect to release the version later this year.

The following is a list of enhancements that reflects our current intentions. There may yet be both deletions from and additions to the list.

The systems@work App:

We’re rewriting the systems@work App using Xamarin (www.xamarin.com) technology (now owned by Microsoft). This enables developers to generate an App for iOS, Android and Windows Mobile from a single source code.

Browser Extensions:

We’re moving most data maintenance functions from the systems@work Maintenance application to the browser-based Professional Services Workbench (PSW), and we’re providing an easy Excel-based data export-import mechanism so that data maintenance and modification can be done easily and in bulk. As long as columns in an Excel spreadsheet can be mapped to field-names in systems@work new records can be imported and existing records updated – subject to employee permissions.

The systems@work Maintenance application will continue as a tool for system configuration rather than for day-to-day data and system maintenance.

  • File upload using drag and drop – revision to apply in all file upload contexts (Forms, News, etc.)

Graphics:

  • Further revisions to all grid graphics
  • Option for PSW panels to be double-width (enabling visibility, for example, of longer report names)

Reporting:

  • Static Data Profiles to allow selection based on Modified Date
  • Reworking of the PSW Runtime Parameters page to make the specification of parameter values more intuitive

Planning:

We hope to make some performance and usability enhancement in Planning.
