Hardware Requirements

Introduction

For clients wishing to deploy in the systems@work Cloud, the information below is not relevant as the infrastructure is managed by the systems@work Cloud Services Team.

For clients managing their own infrastructure, the hardware requirements for time@work, expense@work and forms@work will be influenced by a variety of client specific factors.

Whether or not Servers are dedicated and whether they are Physical or Virtual Servers will also have a significant bearing on the RAM and CPU requirements.

The following should therefore be considered as guidelines only and you should discuss any specific requirements with systems@work as part of the implementation project.

Important Note: Please note that the time@work, expense@work and forms@work Maintenance Applications are not supported in a WAN environment. For clients who are deploying this architecture we recommend the use of Citrix or Remote Desktop / Terminal Server.

Additionally please note that the Thick Client Maintenance Applications have been phased out with effect from Version 7.

Self Hosted Azure Support

For clients wishing to deploy in their own Azure environment we support the following SQL Environments:

• Azure SQL Database
• Azure SQL Managed Instance
• SQL Server On Virtual Machines

A separate IIS Virtual Server will be required.

1 RDP Virtual Server is also required for the Maintenance Application.

Server Requirements (On Prem or Private Cloud)

Up to 100 Users

WEB server:

CPU: Dual Core 2GHz or faster
RAM: 16GB Minimum (32GB or 64GB Recommended)
HDD: 1GB Minimum
OS: Windows Server 2014, 2016, 2019
Connection:1-2 Mbit/s Upload (or faster) for Web Users.

SQL server:

CPU: Dual core 2GHz or faster
RAM: 16GB minimum (32GB or 64GB Recommended)
OS: Windows Server 2014, 2016, 2019.
SQL Server:SQL 2014, SQL 2016, SQL 2019
Collation: Latin1_General_CI_AS
HDD: 5GB Minimum
DB Size: Estimated at Max of 500MB Per Year

200 Users

For 200 users a minimum Ram on the IIS Server of 16GB is required. 32GB, 64GB or 128GB is recommended.

400+ Users

For 400+ users a minimum Ram on the IIS Server and SQL Server of 16GB and a 64 Bit Operating System is required. 32GB, 64GB or 128GB  is recommended.

As general guidance we would recommend that you allow 100MB of RAM per simultaneous/concurrent Web user. Therefore if you anticipated up to 160 of your employees using the system at the same time then 16GB would be the minimum RAM we would recommend.

Note:

For clients using the Document Attachment capabilities of time@work, expense@work and forms@work it is important to ensure that appropriate storage is available depending on the file types and frequency of upload.
